Mark Dávila

Mark Dávila is the Music Director of the Grace Davis High School Music Department.  His music studies thrived at Modesto Junior College under the instruction of Dr. David Chapman, performing the first graduation guitar recital in Dr. Chapman’s studio. At Sacramento State University, Mark studied with Dr. Richard Savino, earning a B.M. in Guitar Performance and Music Education. Along with studying each of the major instrument families, he also played baroque Viola da Gamba, Japanese Shakuhachi, and Jazz Piano.

Mr. Dávila continued at Sacramento State earning a M.A. in Spanish Linguistics and Literature and continued his studies abroad in Peñíscola, Spain.  After doctoral studies in Spanish at UC Merced, Mark decided to teach music full time in high school after obtaining a double single-subject teaching credential in Music and Spanish from Stanislaus State University. Mr. Davila heads the Grace Davis High School  Music Department teaching Guitar, Orchestra, Choir, Piano, and contemporary Mexican music.
